Driver airlifted to hospital after striking tree in Marion County crash

A single-vehicle accident occurred on August 28, 2024, at approximately noon on Highway 6 near Cougar Lane, about three miles southeast of Durham, Missouri. The accident involved a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, driven by April L. Aguilar, a 43-year-old woman from Quincy, Illinois.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound when it veered off the right side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to return to the roadway before overcorrecting again and striking a tree.

April L. Aguilar sustained moderate injuries in the accident. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Aguilar was transported by Air Evac to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, for further treatment. The Hyundai Elantra was totaled in the crash and was towed from the scene by Roberts Garage.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Duppong, Corporal Hicks, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and local ambulance services.
