Departure ceremony this Saturday for National Guard company in Trenton

The head of the National Guard in Missouri, Major Steve Danner, Adjutant General for the guard, will be among government officials in Trenton Saturday.

The National Guard’s 548th Transportation Company based in Trenton will hold a departure ceremony at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Ketcham Community Center on the North Central Missouri College campus in Trenton.

Missouri Army National Guard Public Affairs Specialist Mary Lester says

the Guard has requested the presence of other government officials, but they have not confirmed they will attend.

Family members, friends, and supporters of the 548th Transportation Company are invited to attend.

After the departure ceremony, the company will leave for the final segment of training before a year-long deployment to Kuwait.

The company will provide ground transportation for the movement of dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, other breakbulk cargo, ammunition, and bottled water.

It will also provide convoy security to protect military assets and civilian trucks hauling military goods.

Captain Tyler Perkins and First Sergeant Shannon Andrews lead the unit.
