The Annual Grundy County Delinquent Tax Sale is set to take place on Monday, August 26, 2024. The event will be held on the first floor of the courthouse in Trenton, commencing at 10 a.m.

As of Thursday morning, August 15, there were 57 properties slated for inclusion in the sale. The properties are distributed across several townships within Grundy County, with Trenton Township featuring the highest number of properties at 18. Of these, 16 are listed for the first sale and two for the third sale.

Madison Township and Leisure Lake follow closely, with 16 properties each. Among them, 11 are listed for the first sale, three for the second, and two for the third. Wilson Township has 10 properties, with nine listed for the first sale and one for the second. Franklin Township has nine properties, seven listed for the first sale and two for the second. Liberty Township has three properties, with one each listed for the first, second, and third sale. Lincoln Township has one property listed, and it is included in the first sale.

The properties are categorized based on the number of years of delinquent taxes. Properties with three years of unpaid taxes are offered in the first sale, those with four years of delinquent taxes are included in the second sale, and properties with five years of unpaid taxes are listed in the third sale. According to Collector-Treasurer Barbara Harris, properties must sell for the amount of taxes owed plus any associated fees.

For those interested in participating in the delinquent tax sale, a list of properties is available, and potential buyers can check the properties for liens in the recorder’s office.

To qualify as a bidder, individuals must be Missouri residents, provide proof of being current on their personal and real estate taxes, and possess a valid Missouri driver’s license. Harris encourages potential bidders to visit the collector-treasurer’s office at the courthouse on August 23 or before the sale on August 26, when the office opens at 8 a.m. At that time, bidders will need to present their driver’s license for a photocopy, sign an affidavit, and receive a bidding number.

For more information, interested parties are advised to contact the Grundy County Collector-Treasurer’s Office.
