David Montgomery obit photoDavid Montgomery, 84, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Rochelle, Illinois, he was a resident of Hale, Missouri, before eventually settling in Chillicothe after his retirement travels. David was the youngest of five children born to Harold and Mary Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Jim Montgomery, John Montgomery, and Rosie Mowers. David is survived by his sister, Alice Rice.

David is also survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon Montgomery, and five daughters: Karen Bejani (Renod Bejani), Cheryl Shields (Wes Shields), Linda Montgomery, Melissa Englert (Brian Englert), and Bethany Keith (Travis Keith). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and many step-great-grandchildren.

David served in the Army as an assistant chaplain. He worked as a farmer and, most recently, a school bus driver. He was an active member of the Hale Lions Club and thoroughly enjoyed socializing with friends, always making new acquaintances whenever he left his home or vehicle. David and his wife Sharon loved RV traveling around the United States, engaging in mission work through the United Methodist NOMADS, and meeting new people wherever they went. He was also extremely talented in woodworking, creating functional items from various materials.

David will be remembered by his family as a very involved father and grandfather, always present at school functions and taking an active interest in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hale Lions Club or Back Pack Buddies in Chillicothe, Missouri.

There will be no public funeral or visitation service. A private family Celebration of Life will be held.
