Crash on I-35 near Cameron leaves one dead, three injured

A multi-vehicle accident occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 35 near Cameron, Missouri, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 5:05 a.m. on September 1, 2024, at the 55-mile marker of southbound I-35.

A 2000 Toyota 4Runner, which had been involved in a separate crash prior, came to rest on its top in the middle of the southbound lanes of I-35. The driver of the Toyota 4Runner had exited the vehicle and was standing in the roadway. At this point, a 2024 Ford Edge, traveling southbound, struck the overturned Toyota and the pedestrian.

The Ford Edge continued into the median and came to rest on its wheels facing east. The Toyota 4Runner and the pedestrian were left in the driving lane of southbound I-35.

Injuries Reported:

  • Pineda, Luci N., 38, from Farmington, Minnesota: A pedestrian, was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by DeKalb County Coroner Heath Turner at 7:55 a.m.
  • Seneh, Regina N., 36, from Kansas City, Missouri: An occupant of the Ford Edge, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Liberty Hospital by Cameron EMS.
  • Seneh, Lindie J., 56, from Kansas City, Missouri: An occupant of the Ford Edge, suffered serious injuries and was transported to KU Medical Center by Cameron EMS.
  • Juvenile, male, 0, from Kansas City, Missouri: An occupant of the Toyota 4Runner, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Liberty Hospital by Cameron EMS.

The Ford Edge and the Toyota 4Runner were both reported as totaled and were towed from the scene by Scotty’s Towing.

Authorities from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cameron Police Department, and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the response.
