Crash on Highway 116 near Lathrop injures three, including two children

A crash occurred on Highway 116, three miles east of Lathrop, Missouri, on July 11, 2024, at 2:15 p.m. The crash involved a 2016 Dodge Charger driven by Ayryka N. Ross, 22, of Raytown, Missouri.

The vehicle was traveling westbound when it attempted to overtake another car. The Dodge Charger veered off the south side of the road. Ross overcorrected, causing the car to travel off the north side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a private drive and culvert, became airborne, and eventually came to rest on its driver’s side facing west.

Ross sustained serious injuries in the crash and was not wearing a seat belt. She was transported by Caldwell County EMS to Liberty Hospital.

Two juvenile occupants from Richmond, Missouri, were also seriously injured. A seven-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl were transported by Tri-County EMS to Liberty Hospital. Their safety device usage at the time of the accident is unknown.

The vehicle was towed by Tate’s. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by Clinton County authorities and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department, responded to the scene.
