A two-vehicle collision occurred at 2:46 p.m. on August 23, 2024, on Business 71 at John Glenn, approximately one mile north of St. Joseph, Missouri. The crash involved a 2018 Kia Forte and a 2015 Honda Civic.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident happened when the Honda Civic, driven by Robert G. Dafford, 71, of St. Joseph, Missouri, was traveling eastbound on John Glenn Road. As the Civic entered the path of the southbound Kia Forte, driven by Jaya Venkata Sidda, 26, of Maryville, Missouri, the Forte’s front end struck the Civic’s driver-side door. The Civic came to rest on the roadway facing north, while the Forte came to rest off the east side of the road facing south.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Blue Knight.
Injuries Reported:
- Manchandra Kuntala, 23, of Maryville, Missouri, sustained moderate injuries. He was an occupant of the Kia Forte and was transported by Buchanan County EMS to Mosaic.
- Datta Kartikeya, 24, of Maryville, Missouri, also an occupant of the Kia Forte, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Buchanan County EMS to Mosaic.
- Jaya Venkata Sidda, 26, the driver of the Kia Forte from Maryville, Missouri, sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.
- Robert G. Dafford, 71, the driver of the Honda Civic from St. Joseph, Missouri, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Andrew County EMS to Mosaic.
The Andrew County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene of the crash.
