The Community Action Partnership of North Central Missouri is accepting applications for its Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Vicky West with CAPNCM says there are several items needed to apply if everyone in a household receives food stamps. Those items include a completed and signed LIHEAP application and a copy of primary and secondary utility bill or a letter from the company saying someone is a customer. The bill or letter must show the name, address, and account number. West says an electric bill must be provided, even if someone also has propane or gas.
The same items are needed to apply if no one or only some in a household receives food stamps plus copies of social security cards for every member of the household who does not receive food stamps and proof of income from the prior month for every member of the household older than 18.
West notes that failure to provide proper documentation and application forms will result in a delay in the processing of the application for assistance. She adds that requirements for applying for LIHEAP are the same statewide.
Linda Baugher with CAPNCM says those seeking assistance do not have to come to the Trenton office to apply. Applications can be emailed to energy@capncm.org, faxed to 660-359-2038, mailed to 1506 Oklahoma Avenue in Trenton, or dropped off at the office.
Baugher says payments for those enrolled in LIHEAP and who are at least 60 years old or disabled begin Thursday, November 1st. Everyone else will start receiving payments on December 1st. Baugher explains CAPNCM will not have any funds for any utilities until then and that processing may take several weeks. The office cannot provide anyone with same-day service, even if that person has received a disconnect notice.
