Collision on Highway 116 at Intersection with Interstate 169 leads to Injuries

On December 12, 2023, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on Highway 116, about four miles south of Gower in Clinton County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that two vehicles were involved: a 2018 Jeep Renegade and a 2022 Honda Insight.

According to the accident report, the Jeep Renegade, driven by 22-year-old Payton W. Christiansen of Liberty, Missouri, was traveling westbound on Highway 116. Simultaneously, the Honda Insight, driven by 45-year-old Bryan A. Kretzinger of Gower, Missouri, was heading northbound on Interstate 169.

The crash occurred as the Jeep, positioned at a stop sign, attempted a left turn and inadvertently entered the path of the northbound Honda. The Honda struck the driver’s side of the Jeep, causing both vehicles to come to a halt, facing northbound in the northbound lane of Interstate 169.

Mr. Kretzinger sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Tri-County EMS to Liberty Hospital. Both drivers were using seat belts at the time of the collision.

Both vehicles suffered significant damage, with the Jeep Renegade described as having extensive damage and the Honda Insight as totaled. Randy’s Towing Service towed both vehicles from the scene.

Clinton County and Gower Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene of the crash.
