Main Street Chillicothe hosted their 9th Annual Memory Tree Dedication and Lighting on Tuesday, December 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Silver Moon Plaza. This tree is dedicated to our many loved ones who we will be missing this holiday season.

The ornaments on the tree provide an opportunity to memorialize friends and family who have passed, offering a way to honor and remember them. The ceremony, lasting approximately 45 minutes, honored 90 loved ones. Rev. Steve Pinnell, Associate Pastor at United Methodist Church, delivered the dedication with a heartfelt message and prayer. Students from Chillicothe Middle School and Chillicothe High School Choir sang three Christmas selections, led by Michele A. Phillips, Choir Director for Chillicothe R-2. Weston Baker, Second Ward Councilman, and Patti Leatherman, GM of KCHI Radio, read the names, while Steve Franke, a Main Street Board member, rang a bell for each name. Committee volunteer Jan Jackson and Board Member Chuck Erke served free hot cocoa to attendees.

Ornaments will be hung on the Memory Tree and remain there until the tree is taken down in January 2024. Arrangements for ornament pickup will be made at the Main Street office.

Main Street Chillicothe, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to the historical preservation and economic development of our downtown district. Their efforts are bolstered by partnerships with businesses and donations from community members.
