Chillicothe Fire Department responds to rooftop fire at local businesses

On July 17, 2024, the Chillicothe Fire Department responded to a fire on the rooftop of Vapor Maven and Chillicothe Family Pharmacy, located at 504 Washington Street. The dispatch call came in at 4:05 pm. The fire was brought under control by 6:35 pm.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed small flames emerging from the back side of the building’s roof. A ladder and a 1 1/2-inch attack line were deployed to combat the fire. Approximately 200 gallons of water were used to extinguish the flames. Following this, firefighters performed overhaul procedures to check beneath some roofing materials.

The fire caused minimal damage to the exterior of the building, with no reported damage to the interior. There were no apparent signs of the fire’s origin, leading to the involvement of a State Fire Investigator. After a thorough investigation, the cause of the fire was deemed undetermined.

No injuries were reported, and business operations returned to normal shortly after the incident.
