A 64-year-old Trenton woman, Amy Ridenour Valeka, was arrested on August 21 following an alleged incident in which she reportedly threw Epsom salt water on a child. The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office charged her on August 22 with felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, creating substantial risk involving a first offense and no sexual contact.

Ridenour Valeka also faces misdemeanor charges, including violation of a child protection order involving a first offense and fourth-degree assault. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash only, with supervision by North Missouri Court Services.

Court documents allege that Ridenour Valeka threw Epsom salt water on a victim under 17 years old while the child was riding a bicycle in the street. This reportedly caused the child to nearly lose control and crash.

Additionally, Ridenour Valeka is accused of violating a court order issued by the Grundy County Circuit Court, which prohibited her from having any contact or communication with the alleged victim and from coming within 20 feet of the child. She allegedly violated this order by yelling at the child for riding a bike in the street and by throwing the Epsom salt water.

Ridenour Valeka is scheduled to appear in the Associate Division of the Grundy County Circuit Court on August 27.
