A single vehicle wreck in rural Carroll County resulted in a DeWitt resident being flown to a hospital in Columbia with moderate injuries.
Monday morning, 20-year-old Barry VanDeventer was northbound when, according to the highway patrol, he reportedly fell asleep causing his vehicle to travel off the left side of a county road. The vehicle became airborne and then struck an embankment.
The vehicle was demolished and the report noted VanDeventer was not using a safety device.
