U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. sentenced a Cape Girardeau man to 12 years in prison on Tuesday for selling large quantities of methamphetamine to confidential informants.

Dewayne K. Clark, 57, pleaded guilty in May to two counts of distribution of methamphetamine, one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and one count of possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute.

In his plea agreement, Clark admitted to selling two pounds of methamphetamine and 20 fentanyl pills to confidential informants working with investigators on March 23, 2023, in exchange for $8,000 in cash. He made a similar sale on April 13, 2023, selling another two pounds of methamphetamine and 40 fentanyl pills for the same amount.

A court-approved search conducted on May 10, 2023, revealed over one pound of methamphetamine, 978 pills containing fentanyl, eight grams of cocaine, a stolen Glock pistol, a Smith & Wesson pistol, and an AR-15-style pistol in Clark’s home. According to the plea agreement, Clark admitted to selling methamphetamine regularly and disclosed that his largest customer was a woman who purchased a pound of methamphetamine every other month.

A separate court filing indicates that Clark also sold one pound of methamphetamine and 20 fentanyl pills to the informants on March 10, 2023.

The case was investigated by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force, the Mineral Area Drug Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Hunter prosecuted the case.
