Cameron teen faces multiple felonies after police pursuit

A Cameron resident faces three felonies after allegedly attempting to flee from law enforcement on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 13th. The Highway Patrol arrested 18-year-old Hunter Scott Barton in Caldwell County.

Barton has been charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony, and escape or attempted escape from custody while under arrest for a felony.

According to a probable cause statement, Barton was found in Caldwell County in possession of a sport utility vehicle that had been reported stolen to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

While being transported to the Cameron Police Department, Barton allegedly exited the patrol vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. He was subsequently recaptured south of the original arrest location.
