The Browning Homecoming 2024 is scheduled for July 26th and 27th, featuring a variety of events and activities for the community. The event promises fun-filled days with food, games, and entertainment for all ages.
On Friday, July 26th, the festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with the opening of the concession stand and beer garden, which will operate until midnight. The Baby and Queen Show will start at 6 p.m., with sign-ups beginning at 5:30 p.m. The entry fee for participants aged 10 years and under is $2, and for Junior Queen and Queen participants, it is $5. Age categories range from 0-6 months to 15-18 years.
At 6:30 p.m., the local fire department will sponsor a fish fry, accepting free-will donations. An ice cream social will follow at 7:30 p.m., with bowls available for $3 each. Concurrently, a washers tournament will also commence at 7:30 p.m. Sign-ups for the tournament will begin at 7 p.m. The evening’s entertainment will be provided by the Roadhouse Revelers with Gary Thorpe, starting at 8 p.m.
The activities on Saturday, July 27th, will start at 8 a.m. with vendors opening in the park. The concession stand and beer garden will open at 10 a.m., along with children’s games. A parade is scheduled for noon, with the line-up beginning at 11 a.m. at Town’s Collision. Following the parade, a dunk tank and an archery tournament will begin at 1 p.m. The dunk tank will operate until 6 p.m., with all proceeds going to the Linn County R-1 PTO. The archery tournament sign-ups will take place at 12:30 p.m., either before or after the parade.
At 2 p.m., a poker run will be held, with sign-ups starting at 1:30 p.m. at the ballpark. A steak supper will be served at 6 p.m., priced at $15 per plate. The evening will feature a performance by Shakey Ground at 7 p.m., with a raffle during intermission.
A corn pit will be available in the park throughout the weekend. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs to enjoy the events comfortably.
