On the evening of October 23, 2023, an accident happened on Interstate 35, just one mile north of Holt, Missouri. The incident, which occurred at approximately 5:25 p.m., involved a 2016 Freightliner Columbia and resulted in minor injuries for both occupants.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Freightliner, driven by Earl L. Miller, 58, and occupied by Vickie L. Miller, 65, both from Clinton, Iowa, was traveling southbound on Interstate 35. The vehicle’s brakes unexpectedly locked up, causing the heavy truck to slide uncontrollably off the west side of the road. It subsequently collided with a guardrail before overturning down an embankment.

The Freightliner came to a halt on its wheels, facing northeast, off the west side of the roadway. Both Earl and Vickie Miller were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. They sustained minor injuries and were transported by Holt and Kearney EMS to Liberty Hospital for treatment.

The Freightliner Columbia suffered total damage in the crash and had to be towed from the scene by Scotty’s towing service. The Millers were insured by Protective Insurance Company.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Corporal J.J. Thompson and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
