Audrey Joyce Jones, 83, of Milan, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan, surrounded by her family.
Audrey was born on August 25, 1940, near Green City, Missouri, to Alvin and Erma (Spray) Jacobs. She grew up in Green City and graduated from Green City High School. After graduating, she moved to Kansas City, where she worked as a retouch artist for Hallmark Cards. On October 21, 1961, she married Tyrone “Terry” Jones. In 1966, they moved back to Sullivan County, near Milan. In addition to being a homemaker, she also worked in various departments in local healthcare facilities until her retirement. Audrey was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Green City. She sang at many funerals to bring comfort to the families. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. Audrey was an artist and loved to create things with her hands, including embroidery and crocheting. She also enjoyed painting and coloring.
Audrey is survived by two children: Terri Lynn (David) Richardson of Milan, Missouri, and Trent (Sheila) Jones of Holt, Missouri; grandchildren: Ethan (Darcy) Richardson, Erin Richardson (Jaron), Kirk Hoerrmann (Char), and Tyler Jones; great-granddaughter, Meredith Richardson; siblings: Carol Fanning of Milan, Ronald (Violet) Jacobs of Green City, and Elaine Frazier of Green City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Terry, in 2006; her sister, Janice Sharp; nephews: Mitch Sharp, Jimmy Fanning, and Troy Elliott; five brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
Services for Audrey will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan, Missouri. A visitation will be held one and a half hours before the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
