Nicholas “Nick” Fortner, 63, of Grain Valley, MO, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at a Lee’s Summit, MO hospital.
He was born on September 2, 1960, the son of Lee Fortner and Judy Bowen.
Nick was a North Harrison graduate and served in the US Navy, Army, and the Texas National Guard. He was the proud owner of Nick’s Inspection Services, which he ran with his son, Tyler.
Nick was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Bowen.
To cherish his memory are his two children, Nakia (Jared) Gully and their children, Makenzie, Abby, and Hunter, of Bella Vista, AR, and Tyler Fortner of Grain Valley, MO; his father, Lee (Inie) Fortner; stepfather, Gene Bowen (Sharon) of Worth, MO; brothers, Rick (Georgia) Fortner of Rayville, MO, Scott (Teri) Fortner of Blythedale, MO, Brian (Kimith) Fortner of Lawson, MO, Tom Pottorff (Gayla) of Hatfield, MO, and Ty Lundberg of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Shannon (Bryan) Hovorka of Lawson, MO, and Amy Yeager of Fargo, ND; uncles, Dewey (Ruth) Fortner of Kansas City, MO, and Delvin (Joann) Wilkinson of MN; aunt, Cheri Floyd of Independence, MO. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive him.
Graveside services and burial with military rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at Lincoln Center Cemetery in Hatfield, MO, under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Eagleville, MO.
