The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two local and area residents on April 22.

The Trenton Police Department apprehended Taylor Scott Groves, a 21-year-old from Trenton, for felony resisting arrest. This charge stemmed from an incident where Groves allegedly fled from police, significantly risking serious injury or death to others. Additionally, he faces misdemeanors for driving while his license was revoked or suspended—his second or third such offense—and for operating a motor vehicle recklessly. The charges also include operating a motorcycle without a valid license, failing to register a motor vehicle, and driving without maintaining the required financial responsibility for a second or subsequent time. Groves’ bond is set at $25,000, payable in cash only. His court appearance is scheduled for May 14 in the Associate Division of the Grundy County Circuit Court.

On April 17, while attempting to arrest Groves for speeding, Trenton Police Officer Faith Houghton reported that he failed to stop despite lights and sirens and ignored a stop sign. He was driving an unlicensed dirt bike at excessive speeds on Harris Avenue at the time. Moreover, Groves reportedly operated a vehicle without a valid driver’s license and failed to maintain registration and financial responsibility, as mandated by state law.

Groves has a prior conviction from October 2022 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

In a separate case, Amber Nycole Leeper, 45, of Princeton, was arrested at the Grundy County Law Enforcement Center on a capias warrant related to an alleged probation violation for felony forgery. Leeper’s bond was also set at $25,000 cash only, with her court date scheduled for May 16 in Division One of the Grundy County Circuit Court.

Court documents allege that in November 2021, Leeper transferred a check for $2,950.33, knowing it was fraudulent, intending to pass it off as genuine.
