An 18-year-old man from Chillicothe, Missouri, was involved in an accident early Wednesday morning when his 2010 Chevrolet Aveo skidded off the road and overturned. The crash occurred at 5:45 a.m. on LIV 235, about one mile north of Chillicothe.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Chevrolet was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, unsuitable for the road conditions, which led to the vehicle skidding. It subsequently lost control, traveled off the west side of the road, struck an embankment, and overturned, landing back on its wheels.

The driver, identified as Robert A. Anson, did not use a seat belt at the time of the accident. The car suffered total damage and was towed from the scene by Brotherton’s Towing Service.

Markus A. Cunningham, a 19-year-old occupant of the vehicle, also from Chillicothe, sustained minor injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt during the incident and walked to Hedrick Medical Center following the crash.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Highway Patrol at the scene.
