Health Advisories : Gilman City placed under boil water advisory

A precautionary boil water advisory is in effect for Gilman City until further notice. Utilities Superintendent Larry Hyre says that a lightning strike on Saturday damaged a Gilman City water main midway between Gilman City and Coffey, leading to the water tower being drained and a water outage for Gilman City.

Two Illinois residents were hurt near Cameron when a southbound car went into the median of Interstate 35, crossed both northbound lanes, went off the east side of the interstate, hit an embankment, and overturned, coming to rest on its top.

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs came into their Class 1 state quarterfinal tennis match confident of their play and hopeful of an upset, having defeated St. Pius the Tenth of Kansas City 5-0 on Friday, in the state sectionals. However, the all-around strength of a Barstow team considered by many to be the favorite for the state title was too much for the Lady Bulldogs, who went down 5 matches to zero, ending their 'team' portion of the 2011 season.

An accident that occurred on Monday night, October 8th injured two members of a Gallatin family. The Highway Patrol said the wreck occurred on Highway 6 at Altamont, when a vehicle had 'mechanical malfunctions' that caused it to run off the north side of the road and struck the deck of a house.

A car ran off a road in northeastern Chariton County on Saturday night, resulting in injuries for a young Higbee woman. Twenty-two year old Courtney Hayes was taken by private vehicle to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, with injuries described as MODERATE by the Highway Patrol.
