Accidents : Interstate 35 wreck injures Gladstone man

The Highway Patrol said a Gladstone man had a medical issue, which contributed to the car he was driving going off Interstate 35 south of Bethany and hitting two road signs and several trees. Seventy-four year old William Durham was taken to Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany, with what the Patrol called MODERATE injuries.

Sports : SEC coaches talk Missouri basketball as Tigers join new conference

The University of Missouri and Texas A&M University will join the Southeastern Conference, officially, when the calendar flips to July on Sunday morning. The addition of the two former Big 12 schools will increase the SEC to 14 teams.

News : Governor Nixon requests USDA to conduct "drought damage" reports

Governor Jay Nixon has asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency (FSA) to conduct damage assessment reports for all of Missouri's 114 counties and the city of St. Louis. Those reports will determine the extent of damage to crops and livestock brought on by the excessive heat and severe drought conditions persisting throughout the state.

The Department of Natural Resources is holding regional collections of unwanted pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides, de-wormers, fly tags, and fertilizers containing herbicides and pesticides. Road Work : Highway 46 near Eagleville to close Monday morning

A section of Highway 46 in northwestern Harrison County (just northwest of Eagleville) will be closed beginning today (Monday) for a bridge replacement project. The bridge is over the West Fork of Big Creek, near Route YY. The closure is to last six to eight weeks.

Forty-six year old Sonia Lambson of Blockton, Iowa was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Albany. The Highway Patrol said she had SERIOUS injuries.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is reminding the public that state-owned right of way must be clear of objects, including political and other yard signs. Placement of yard signs can, according to MoDOT, create safety hazards by blocking visibility needed by motorists to drive through an area or enter or exit area driveways and streets.

News : Callao's former superintendent sentenced to prison on murder charges

A former superintendent at Callao and an acquaintance, have each been sentenced to life in prison with the connection with the murder of the former school official's husband. Fifty-seven year old Elain Kay Young of Novinger and 58-year old Katherine Mock of Cassville were convicted, in March, of the murder of Young's husband, Melvin Griesbauer of Novinger in March 2006.
