KTTN/KGOZ News : Livingston County Sheriff's Department to receive $9,000 grant

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department has been approved for a $9,000 local law enforcement block grant. That is according to Sheriff Steve Cox, who says the money will be used toward the purchase of a new or used patrol vehicle. The grant application was written by Sergeant Michael Claypole with assistance from Presiding Commissioner Eva Danner-Horton and Sheriff Cox.

KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Trenton Bulldogs split wrestling dual at Gallatin

The Trenton High School wrestling team defeated Gallatin 48-36 but lost to South Harrison 29-28 on Tuesday night, as part of a very competitive triangular between the three rival schools at Gallatin High School. The Trenton Bulldogs swept a basketball doubleheader on Tuesday night against the Princeton Tigers, controlling both games throughout and getting 'running clock's' by the fourth quarter, with the Trenton girls cruising to a 73-21 win, with the boys taking a 66-29 victory.

The North Missouri Sportsman's Alliance (NMSA) will be conducting two fund raisers during the first four and one-half months of 2013. The fund raisers will be held in lieu of the North Missouri Outdoor Classic, which the NMSA had used as its primary fund raiser the last five years. The Outdoor Classic will return to the Chillicothe area in March of 2014.

The Trenton girls and South Harrison boys basketball teams claimed victories on Friday night, in a high school basketball doubleheader broadcast LIVE on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com. The Trenton girls moved to 6-0 with a 69-39 win, while the South Harrison boys beat Trenton 78-58.

KTTN/KGOZ News : Green Hills Animal Shelter announces "Adoption Day" on December 15th

The Green Hills Animal Shelter will be offering $20.00 off the usual adoption fees during a promotion the afternoon of Saturday, December 15th. This is called the "Jingle Bell Special Pet Adoption Day". Dogs and cats wearing jingle bells will be available that afternoon at a $20.00 discount. The shelter says the regular adoption fee ranges from $80 to $100. That includes the cost of rabies and distemper vaccinations, plus the spaying or neutering of the pet.

Automobile Accidents : Highway 6 accident injures St. Joseph men

Two men from St. Joseph were injured late Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident three miles west of Gallatin. The Highway Patrol said that the men, 27-year old Teklit Weldeabzgi and 30-year old Tedla Tesfameskel, suffered SERIOUS injuries and were flown by medical helicopter to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.

Playing against tough competition from the Jayhawk Community College Conference in Kansas last week, the North Central Missouri College women lost three games in a row, while the Pirate men lost twice (at Allen County and against nationally-ranked Barton County). On Tuesday night, in Lamoni, Iowa, NCMC was able to get back into the win column.

The city of Mercer says water customers at Mercer will be WITHOUT service while a water main leak is located and repaired. There also will be a precautionary boil advisory at Mercer UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE for drinking and cooking water. The North Mercer School District dismissed classes at 1:15 on Wednesday afternoon because of the water outage.
