The Trenton High School boy's golf team has advanced to the Class 2 state tournament in Springfield, courtesy of a runner-up finish to Barstow High School in Wednesday's Class 2, Sectional 4 tournament in St. Joseph.
Winners have been announced in the 49th annual essay contest sponsored by Farmer's Electric Cooperative of Chillicothe. Two juniors have won ALL-EXPENSE PAID trips to Washington, DC. Three sophomores won all-expense paid trips to the Cooperative Youth Conference and Leadership Experience (CYCLE) conference in Jefferson City.
A model train show is coming to Marceline on Saturday May 5th. The show, which also includes railroad art and memorabilia, is scheduled from 9 o'clock until 3 o'clock Saturday in Walsworth Community Center, 124 East Ritchie at Marceline.
At Wright Memorial Hospital Friday evening, the Hospital Foundation's Donor Recognition Wall was unveiled. It is nine feet, six inches wide by four feet, six inches tall. The base is laminate with engraved copy and graphics filled black and tan, with smoke laminate trim.
A bridge replacement project on Highway 36 in eastern Caldwell County is to begin when weather conditions allow. It is on the westbound lanes of Highway 36 at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks near Nettleton.
Jenni Croy, Head Coach of the Lady Pirates basketball team at North Central Missouri College in Trenton, has announced her second recruit for the 2012-13 team. It is Samone Redditt, a student at William Chrisman High School in Independence.
The recycling trailer that Grundy County personnel hauls to Galt, Spickard, and Laredo will be in GALT for the next two weeks. The location is near the fire station in Galt. Only items listed on the trailer are to be placed in the recycling bins.
