MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) â€” Behind the facade of pristine ski slopes, craft beer, quaint village greens and one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, Vermont is grappling with painkiller and heroin abuse, a challenge leaders say is fueling crime and wrecking lives and families disproportionately in this tiny state.
An organization known as Front Range Equine Rescue is reporting the Rains Natural Meats Company quietly filed a motion to dismiss their appeal with the Missouri Environmental Department, which had issued the Company a discharge permit that excluded equines. The move leaves only Valley Meats in New Mexico still fighting to open a plant.
During a 50 minute public hearing at the beginning of last night's Trenton City Council meeting, several representatives of Reliant Care Management Company discussed plans for Eastview Manor Care Center at Trenton. The central topic was a unit for persons with behavioral problems.
