A teenage girl from Stanberry was injured late Thursday night when she swerved her car to miss an object on Gentry County Route B, drove off the road, and overturned coming to rest upright. It happened four miles north of Stanberry.

The Newtown-Harris FFA Chapter and a local 4-H club are to receive $2,500 through Monsanto. Newtown-Harris patrons Mike and Deana Miller won the grant, according to Newtown-Harris Superintendent Dr. Bryan Copple:

A single vehicle accident just east of Green Castle on Monday afternoon injured a man from Novinger. The Highway Patrol said 62-year old Phil Ruggles received MODERATE injuries and was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The North Mercer High School tandem of Sierra Michaelis and Courtney Owens are four-time selections to the All-HDC Conference postseason first team, both among the girls and boys honored by the conference in voting announced on Monday afternoon. Anyone in the Trenton area interested in playing on a Trenton little league team in the Harrison County League, headquartered in Bethany, needs to sign up their children THIS WEEK. These teams will practice in Trenton with home games in Trenton. Sign-up sheets are available at area schools and at the Trenton Main Stop convenience store and may be returned to either location. Playing their first two games of a spring break road trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the North Central Missouri College baseball team split a pair of hard-fought, low-scoring games over the weekend. The Pirates beat Salem Community College 3-1, but fell in a 13 inning marathon to Lakeland Comunity College, 4-3.

More than 70 area high schools with an estimated 1,500 agriculture students will be on the campus of North Central Missouri College in Trenton this Thursday for the annual NCMC Ag Club Contests.

Both North Mercer Lady Cardinals and Meadville Eagles will play for third place honors tonight in the class one high school basketball tournament at Columbia. That is the result of losses both teams suffered last night in semifinal action.

A Laredo resident was injured early Wednesday morning when the sport utility vehicle she was driving went off a snow-covered road north of Laredo and hit an embankment. Twenty-year old Jessica West was taken by private vehicle to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton. The Highway Patrol described her injuries as minor.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department reports a suspect was taken into custody after a short standoff at a residence near Dawn. Forty-year old Jeffrey Griffith of St. Joseph was wanted on THREE warrants. Those involve Resisting Arrest during an incident in February in Platte County, an Assault in Buchanan County, and Failure to Appear in Court in St. Joseph.

High schools from across northern Missouri were represented in Trenton on Thursday when North Central Missouri College hosted 11 agriculture judging contests. Among high ranking results featuring area schools, Princeton took first place in meats, fourth in soils, fifth place in poultry, and fifth in nursery-landscape. Individually, Drew Cox was first and Thomas Mallinson second in meats, Devin Purvis placed first in soils, and Jessica Alderson was fourth in nursery-landscape.

The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to resurface Highway 129 in Bucklin this year. The project will include removing and replacing pavement, approaches, and sidewalks between Washington Street and West Third Street.

Two cars collided late Monday afternoon at 28th Street and Highway 65 in Trenton with one driver taken to Wright Memorial Hospital for treatment. Trenton Police says that 55-year old Linda Hodges of rural Mercer was taken to Wright Memorial, with injuries to her neck and shoulder.

The North Central Missouri College baseball team is five games deep into their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and, to this point, the Pirates are finding good success, winning three games and losing two. In all FIVE games, NCMC has out-hit it opponent, and both losses were only by one run, including a 13-inning defeat on Sunday. Head coach Donnie Hillerman says his team is 'playing solid baseball'.

A public presentation is scheduled next week concerning downtown Chillicothe revitalization. The event on Tuesday, March 19th is being run by the Missouri Main Street Connection AND the National
Trust Main Street Center.

The Mercer Lady Cardinals rebounded well from Thursday night's disappointing loss to Chamois, running away from Chadwick and winning the Class 1 girl's third place game, 75-54 on Friday night at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, in a game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com.

The Sullivan County Public Water Supply District has issued a precautionary boil advisory for customers along Route OO between Milan and Noble Road. Also included are Sullivan County Public Water Supply customers along Otter and Oxford Roads, Desert and Diamond Drives, and Daisy Drive, 1/2 mile north of Noland Road. The boil advisory for this area is effective for drinking and cooking water until further notice.

A Kidder man was injured when the truck he was driving overturned northeast of Kearney on Wednesday morning. The Highway Patrol said 53-year old Tony Johnson of Kidder was taken to a Kansas City area hospital with SERIOUS injuries.

Drivers of two vehicles were injured in an accident early on Tuesday afternoon three miles east of Chillicothe. The Highway Patrol described injuries as minor for 33-year old Lindsey Cranmer of Chillicothe and 22-year old Morgan Ireland of Dawn. Both were taken to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
