KTTN/KGOZ News : Veterans Benefits Fair coming to Princeton on Saturday

A Veterans Benefits Fair is planned for this coming Saturday (October 27th) at the Princeton VFW Post. The hours are from 8 o'clock until 12 noon. A district service officer will be there to answer questions from both veterans and their families.

A Breckenridge man was hurt on Saturday afternoon when the farm tractor he was driving went off a private drive and hit a tree near Breckenridge. The Highway Patrol said 56-year old Wayne Black fell from the tractor. He was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center, with injuries described as MODERATE.

Savannah High School won the Sweepstakes Award at the Missouri Day Marching Band Festival in Trenton on Saturday. The Savages had the highest combined scores from the parade and field show events, despite finishing second in both of those categories in Class 4.

The Brookfield Lady Dogs softball team, on an offensive roll since the opening of the Class 2 state playoffs, again put an early crooked number on the scoreboard to take a seemingly dominant lead in Saturday's state championship game, only to see Pleasant Hope rally from 6-0 down with four runs in the fifth inning, and five more in the sixth, to upend the Cinderella run of Brookfield, 9-6.

A father and step-mother have been charged in the death of a four-year old boy at Holt on Monday, October 15th. The Highway Patrol said the boy's father, 34-year old Justin Webb, and step-mother, 32-year old Melissa Webb, both of Holt, have been charged with second degree murder of four-year old Lucas Webb.

Adair County will receive a $76,800 grant through the federal Historic Preservation Fund. The county will use the grant to make structural repairs necessary to stabilize the roof framework of their courthouse that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

A Brookfield resident was injured on Saturday night when the car he was driving went off a road north of Sumner, hit a culvert, and overturned. Twenty-one year old Nathan Bennett was taken by private vehicle to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, with injuries called minor by the Highway Patrol.

A Lawson resident was hurt when the car she was driving went off Highway 69 and hit a utility pole south of Cameron. Forty-six year old April White of Lawson was taken to Liberty Hospital with what the Highway Patrol called MODERATE injuries.
