Sports : NCMC Pirates rally for road sweep at Southwestern

The North Central Missouri College basketball games traveled to Creston, Iowa on Wednesday night to battle the Spartans of Southwestern Community College, and while both Pirate teams trailed at the half, both rallied for victories, improving to 2-1 on the season.

News : Conservation Department seeks hunters to help with CWD sampling

Accidents : Brunswick man injured in dump truck accident

A Brunswick man was injured when the dump truck he was driving went off Chariton County Route F and overturned. Fifty-year old Kenneth Sharp was taken by private vehicle to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield with what the Highway Patrol called MODERATE injuries.

Accidents : Highway 36 accident injures Breckenridge man

A Breckenridge man was hurt late Tuesday morning, when according to the Highway Patrol, the van he was driving skidded into the side of a tractor-trailer unit west of Chillicothe. The Patrol said the right rear duals of the truck ran over the engine compartment of the van. The driver of the van, 22-year old Daniel Bowen, was taken to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, with injuries described as MODERATE.

News : Chillicothe junior candidates named 2012 Barnwarming King and Queen

On Saturday night, the Chillicothe FFA held its annual barnwarming festivities. It included a dance, games, a hay tunnel, and the coronation ceremony. This year's Barnwarming King and Queen were announced as Tucker Jones and Maggie Graves. They are the junior class candidates and raised $8,521. Maggie Graves is the daughter of Jason and Andrea Graves. Tucker Jones is the son of Todd and Christine Jones.

It was presented at the association's 48th annual convention in Kansas City last week. The award was presented in recognition of Donaldson's relationship with North Central Missouri College in Trenton.

Accidents : Highway 190 rear-end collision injures two

Two people were hurt near Chillicothe when a car hit the rear of a sport utility vehicle which had stopped to make a left turn. The driver of the SUV, 41-year old Spencer Sutton of Chillicothe, was taken to Hedrick Medical Center with what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries.

News : "Scouting For Food" drive nets 2,006 pounds across Trenton

The Scouting For Food drive in residential area in Trenton on Saturday resulted in the donation of more than 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food items, paper products, and personal hygiene items. A $100.00 donation also was received. The 2,006 pounds was about 900 pounds BELOW average.

A total of 49 high schools sending a record number 91 ball clubs will converge on the campus of North Central Missouri College next month for the 8th annual High School Holiday Hoops. Considered the largest high school holiday basketball event in the entire state, the North Central Missouri College Foundation will host the event with all games played at the Ketcham Community Center on the campus of NCMC.

Two Princeton teenagers were injured on Tuesday morning when a car overturned east of Mill Grove. The driver, 16-year old Makayla Contrerez, and a passenger, 13-year old Kylie Contrerez, were taken to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton with what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries.

Trenton High School senior pitcher Scotlin Hurley and senior shortstop Maddie Hooyman have been recognized as ALL-STATE first team selections for the 2012 softball season. Both girls were key cogs in a Lady Bulldog team that lost only four games this season, and came within a run of advancing to the Class 3 "Final Four" in Springfield last month.

Two people were hurt when a car went off a road in Chariton County, hit a bridge rail, and came to rest in a creek bed. A passenger, 22-year old Tiffany Samm of Mendon, was taken to Moberly Regional Medical Center with MODERATE injuries. The Patrol said the driver, 24-year old David Weil of Brunswick, was to seek treatment on his own for minor injuries.

Twenty-two year old Joycelynn Still was taken by private vehicle to Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany. The Highway Patrol said she had minor injuries. Sports : Salisbury wins turnover battle, and District 6 football title at Milan, 20-9

An unbeaten run through the 2012 high school football season came to an end last night for the Milan Wildcats, who were beaten 20-9 in the Class 1, District 6 championship game at Cal Hubbard Field against the visiting Salisbury Panthers, in a game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. The win sends Salisbury into Saturday afternoon's state quarterfinals with a season record of 11-1, while Milan finishes the season at 10-1.
