The Lexington Minutemen and Trenton Bulldogs did battle on a rain-soaked C.F. Russell Stadium on Friday night, with the visitors claiming a 21-14 victory, the first in the coaching career of Andy Lierman, a 1999 graduate of Lexington High School.

The busy Trenton Lady Bulldog golf team played in its third event over three days on Thursday, and came home with plenty of hardware, with the team earning 1st place in the six team tournament with a score of 405, and senior Chandler Wilson taking the individual medalist honors with a round of 90 on the par 72 course in Lancaster.

Alyssa Forster pitched the first four innings for Milan before being replaced on a hot night by Kyley Doak, who picked up the win after Bianca Caponetto cracked a game-winning double in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Announcement was made this afternoon that the city of Trenton has lifted its ban on outdoor burning. This ban had been in effect for the past two months due to extremely dry ground conditions. The Trenton Fire Department reported the burn ban was lifted as of this afternoon.

A woman has been sentenced in federal court for real estate fraud in the Kansas City area. Thirty-three year old Angela Allen of Mooresville was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison without parole. On October 18, 2011, Mrs. Allen pleaded guilty to wire fraud in the attempted purchase of a home, as charged in a Sept. 30, 2010, indictment.

Two Cameron residents received what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries when the SUV's they were driving collided with one another north of Cameron on Tuesday morning. Sixty-eight year old Judy Person was taken by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Fifty-three year old Debra Whiteaker was taken by private vehicle to her doctor's office.
