News : Local efforts raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Association

Volunteer efforts by three fire departments raised money locally for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Members of the Trenton Fire Department, Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District, and the Galt Fire Department conducted the annual “Boot Drive” this past weekend in Trenton.

A woman has been sentenced in federal court for real estate fraud in the Kansas City area. Thirty-three year old Angela Allen of Mooresville was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison without parole. On October 18, 2011, Mrs. Allen pleaded guilty to wire fraud in the attempted purchase of a home, as charged in a Sept. 30, 2010, indictment.

Two Cameron residents received what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries when the SUV's they were driving collided with one another north of Cameron on Tuesday morning. Sixty-eight year old Judy Person was taken by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Fifty-three year old Debra Whiteaker was taken by private vehicle to her doctor's office.
