Accidents : Laclede teen injured in Chariton County accident

A 14-year old boy from Laclede was injured in a Thursday afternoon accident in Chariton County, where two vehicles met on a curve on Highway 139. It happened five miles east of Sumner. The Highway Patrol described injuries as MODERATE for Joseph McKenney who was taken by ambulance to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.

Floodwaters : Major highways across Carroll County threatened by floodwaters

Changing conditions overnight brought another road closure on Highway 10 two miles west of Carrollton in Carroll County, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. MoDOT crews are also closely watching U.S. Highway 24 in Chariton County just west of Keytesville where water is at the edge of Keytesville where water is at the edge-line of the road and rising.

The Memorial Day weekend kept the Livingston County Sheriff's office busy with calls and investigations.  One call assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Highway 190 where a pickup had caught fire.  The owner/driver reported seeing another driver attempting to get his attention and soon realized his vehicle was on fire.

Some of the money in a budget bill sitting on the Governor’s desk could help advance the creation of a new lake in north-central Missouri.

he East Locust Creek Water Reservoir Project has been ongoing for many years. It would create a 2,300 acre, 7 mile long lake north of Milan in Sullivan County. $4 million in HB 19 would go toward that project.

News : grundy county museum opens Monday May 27th with the "made in Grundy county" exhibit

Calling it a “time machine,” Phil Schlarb discussed the Grundy County Museum during yesterdays meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club.

Schlarb said the museum, military annex, and a one room school help to present information on Grundy county history, traditions, and citizens. He explained museum properties should be considered as a tourist destination, drawing people to Trenton.

Schlarb, who's the board president, described the museum as a “partner in education” saying it's a teaching tool by fostering inter-generational conversations among kids and adults.

Accidents : Portion of Sullivan County placed under boil advisory

Some rural water customers in Sullivan County have been placed under a precautionary boil advisory because of an overnight water main break. Affected are all customers on Route T, from Route C south to Tiger Road. It also includes Tiger Road from Route T to Texas Road. Others are Sumter, Shell, and Rolling Road, all in Sullivan County.

A team of historical sleuths believe they have found a clue to what happened to famed aviator Amelia Earhart, claiming sonar may have picked up an image of her wrecked plane off an underwater cliff in the Pacific.

The sonar image is the right shape, size and in the right place of where some researchers believe the wreckage of Earhart’s doomed flight went down in 1937.

News : personnel, bids, budget cuts, and more topics highlight a busy night for NCMC board of trustees

Trustees of North Central Missouri College processed 13 personnel-related matters and several requests involving bids.

The board also approved revisions to Green Hills Head Start and Workforce Investment program budgets due to reductions in federal funding. Discussion also was held on the next three year strategic plan to guide operations of the two year community college.

News : Flags Stolen From Chillicothe Cemetery

Authorities in Livingston County are investigating after flags were stolen from a cemetery in Chillicothe.

The sheriff's office said someone stole twenty five flags and flag holders from the Catholic Cemetery on the east side of town.

Sheriff Steve Cox said his office received a similar report several months ago when Chillicothe police found that vases had been stolen from other cemeteries.

Contact the Livingston County Sheriff's Department at 660-646-0515 with any information about the latest theft in Chillicothe.

News : Winston School Board Votes To Increase Teacher Salaries

The Winston School board voted to increase the base salary for teachers and hired faculty and staff during their meeting Monday.

The board approved a $500 increase to the Certified Teacher Salary Schedule base. This increases the school’s salary schedule base to $26,500. The board also approved an equivalent 2.85 percent increase to all non-certified staff and certified employees not on the salary schedule.

News : Eighteen Year Old Arrested For Prostitution

The Livingston County Sheriff has arrested Tye Nicole Wells, 18, of Chillicothe, at First and Hickory Street in Chillicothe for alleged Patronizing Prostitution.

The arrest is a class B misdemeanor. Ms. Wells is being held in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail pending filing of formal charges.

The Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren has been informed of the arrest, as well as alleged bond violations.

Sports : NCMC Lady Pirates sign Truman High School senior

Brooke Parton from Truman High School in Independence has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Lady Pirates at North Central Missouri College next season. Brooke was a four-year starting guard for the Patriots at Truman and was named All-Conference Honorable Mention each year.
