The Stanberry Bulldogs won 19 games through the season on the strength of their defense. On Friday night, victory #20 came to the Bulldogs in the same fashion, with Stanberry holding down a potent North Mercer offense through four quarters and overtime and escaping Worth County High School with a 50-48 win, sending them to the Class 1 state playoffs on Tuesday night at Bearcat Arena in Maryville. |

The Trenton boys played their best offensive half of the season on Tuesday night, scoring 42 points in leading the fourth-seeded Lawson Cardinals 42-40 at the half. Unfortunately for Trenton, the Bulldogs slumped in the third quarter, outscored 21-7, and the "Black and Gold", despite a fourth quarter rally, fell short in a 79-66 final from Bishop LeBlond High School. Tuesday night's game was broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com. |

Contracts for four projects in Northwest Missouri were awarded recently by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. The projects, scheduled for the 2013 construction season, bring more than 7.7 million dollars' worth of improvements to our area.

The United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri has announced that a Brookfield man was indicted by a federal grand jury for attempting to produce child pornography. Forty-six year old Edward Allen Stieber, formerly of Trenton, was charged in a two-count indictment returned by the federal grand jury in Kansas City. |

Colonel Ron Replogle, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces that 44 people reported to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy on January 16th, to begin the 25-week training course to become a trooper. The 96th Recruit Class is scheduled to graduate on July 12, 2013. |

Three Trenton High School wrestlers finished second in the Class 1 state tournament that concluded Saturday night at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Carlos Gonzalez lost 6-5 in the 113 pound championship match to Jake Gipson of Plattsburg. Gonzalez finished his senior year with a 39-2 record. |

Missouri Farmers Care leaders said today that they applaud the Circuit Court of Scotland County for ruling in favor of farmer Gavin Hauk. Mr. Hauk had been denied a permit to place a new 4,960-head hog facility by the county commission on the basis of their County Health Ordinance.
