KTTN/KGOZ News : Glasgow Savings Bank acquired by Regional Missouri Bank of Marceline

The Missouri Division of Finance, on Friday, accepted possession of Glasgow Savings Bank (of Glasgow), and appointed the FDIC as receiver. To protect depositors, an agreement to acquire the bank was reached with Regional Missouri Bank, a 133 million dollar state-chartered bank based out of Marceline.

KTTN/KGOZ News : Fireworks allowed Saturday in Spickard and Trenton

Spickard Mayor Jesse Richmond has announced that, although his city is under a "Burn Advisory", fireworks WILL be allowed today (Saturday, July 14th). Fireworks will also be allowed in the city of Trenton, today between the hours of 8 o'clock in the morning and 12 midnight.

A Bucklin man, 36-year old Michael Simpson, suffered injuries described as minor by the Highway Patrol, after being involved in a two-vehicle accident in rural Linn County, ten miles north of Marceline on Route U.

Trenton resident Ali Gray says she has been in contact this week with the offices of Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill, and Congressman Sam Graves, concerning her family's residency efforts. The family is on a federal government waiting list for green car permanent residency status. Of most immediate concern is the approaching 21st birthday of the Gray's oldest daughter, Lauren.

Health Advisories : Southeast Daviess County placed under boil advisory

A precautionary boil advisory has been issued for an area south of Jamesport in Daviess County. Affected are areas between HIGHWAY 190 on the east and Daviess County ROUTE O on the west. The southern boundary of the boil advisory is Route V. The northern boundary is Prairie Avenue.

KTTN/KGOZ News : Rural Livingston County shooting kills 79-year old man

KTTN/KGOZ News : ATV collision injures two Pattonsburg children

Two children from Pattonsburg were injured on Tuesday afternoon in an all-terrain vehicle rollover accident just east of Pattonsburg on Route C. The Highway Patrol said one of the drivers, nine year old Ashton LaFave of Pattonsburg, received MODERATE injuries and was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

This week’s drought monitor index report, released this (Thursday) morning, shows numerous counties across Missouri with severe drought conditions. There are exceptions in a couple far-reaching areas of the state. The map shows several counties of southeastern Missouri in an EXTREME drought as they have been drier for a longer period of time.

During a closed session for personnel held this past week at Grundy R-5, the Board of Education voted to offer a contract to Kristi Weldon of Trenton to fill the Elementary Principal position for the 2012-2013 school year. The Board confirmed with KTTN that the contract has been signed and returned.

A Trenton man lost his life yesterday (Friday) while crop dusting in rural Randolph County. Thirty-six year old Brad Hammond was killed in a small plane accident. Arrangements are pending at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton.

A young Trenton girl, 12 year old Emily Kasinger, is experiencing an opportunity to view her “dream career” of being a dancer, up close and personal, by attending performances at the New York City ballet. The surprise trip came courtesy of Southwest Airlines with the help of local pilot, Gary Hooyman of Trenton, among others.

Two representatives of the Chula Fire Department made a request at this week's meeting of the Livingston R-3 Board of Education, discussing the possibility of installing a helipad on the school property in Chula. The school administrator plans to check with the school's insurance carrier regarding liability before any decisions are made by the Board of Education.

Trenton Fire Chief Rick Morris, on Monday morning, lifted the ban on outdoor burning that had been in effect in the city due to June's dry conditions. The Grundy County Commission will consider whether to lift the burn ban in rural areas of Grundy County when they meet this week (Tuesday).
