Juvenile driver hydroplanes, collides with Ford Mustang on Highway 24

A head-on collision involving a 2006 Buick Lucerne and a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach E occurred on Highway 24, approximately five miles south of Palmyra, at 5:33 p.m. on April 18, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The Buick, driven by a 16-year-old from Hannibal, Missouri, was traveling northbound when it hydroplaned and collided with the southbound Ford Mustang, operated by Thomas T. Pugh, 33, of Monroe City, Missouri. The accident led to the Buick being completely totaled and both vehicles were towed from the scene by Heartland Towing.

Thomas Pugh sustained minor injuries and was transported by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Ambulance, and the Palmyra Fire Department.
