Johnny Egeland obit photoJohnny L. Egeland, 90, a longtime resident of Trenton, Missouri, passed away at 3:48 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton, with interment to follow at Salem Cemetery, west of Mill Grove. Visitation for family and friends will be held on the same day from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke’s Hospice or the Sunnyview Foundation and may be left with the mortuary.

Born on January 19, 1934, in Mill Grove, Missouri, Johnny was the son of George and Ruth L. Fair Egeland. He worked as a long-haul truck driver before retiring. An avid participant in horseshoes, bowling, and card playing, Johnny also shared his love for music by teaching several of his grandchildren how to play the guitar.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served honorably in the U.S. Army.

Johnny was widowed by his wife, Mary A. Huffman Egeland. He is survived by his four daughters, Cathy Hughs and her husband Tim of Newburg, Missouri; Denise Hamilton and her husband Jr. of Trenton; Vicki Egeland and Carla Leffler, both of Kansas City, Missouri; and a step-son, Jerry Chandler and his wife Maria of Oklahoma. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his son Thomas Egeland, two grandchildren, Timothy Jr. and Cara Hughs, a sister, Betty Booth, and a brother, Robert Egeland.
