Crash on I-35 in Harrison County leads to injuries

An accident disrupted traffic on Interstate 35 early Monday morning when a 2016 Toyota Highlander veered off the roadway, leading to injuries and significant vehicle damage.

The incident occurred around 8:42 a.m. near the 89-mile marker on the southbound lane of Interstate 35. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cindy Thao, 54, of Jay, Oklahoma, was driving the Toyota when it unexpectedly traveled off the east side of the road into the median. The vehicle struck the median crossover, became airborne came to a rest facing southeast in the median.

Thao, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, escaped physical harm, however, the passenger, 67-year-old Steven P. Thao also from Jay, Oklahoma, sustained moderate injuries. He was wearing a seat belt and was taken by NTA Ambulance to Harrison County Community Hospital for treatment.

The Toyota Highlander suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Southside Auto.
